"WE ARE - I AM"

siamo - sono
italiano

We are / I am an artist who likes to tell stories in the ancient way, the way they were told in a time when men knew neither how to read or write.

They began propitiating their life by painting on the walls of their caves, then speaking to the gods and to their ancestors through great sculptures, then they told these great histories to us through beautiful frescos. They used art to carry their message.

We are / I am an artist who loves to work in public, in the streets, to show how a work of art is born and how it grows - to involve people in the magic of art so that they are no longer mere spectators.

I want to destroy the barrier between art and the public. I only reveal the images that people look at and desire to see. I do nothing more than give form and color to their most beautiful dreams, showing in this way that it is the People who are Artists. I am only the brush. I am the people's hands on the cool clay.

We are/ I am an artist who works with four, six, eight hands - depending on how we are to work on the same project. No more is there "The Artist", but artists who mold their art on the same work.

It is beautiful create in this way: free from the pride of an artist on a pedestal who believes only himself to be the creator.

It is not like this. Such an individual is mistaken because the art that is within him was not created by him or by his mother. The art that he has, he has for all, to give to all - simply - like a beautiful spring that mixes spirit and matter as two equally sublime things.

We are / I am an artist who has united a beautiful group of young people, each one with unique characteristics. All combine to make a marvelous mosaic of types and different and pleasing forms. He who creates is helped and exalted by the others whom he, in turn, helps and exalts.

We are / I am an artist who would like to teach more than to do...and what have I taught? What do I have to teach?

My figure-drawing teacher said: "People don't know how to draw because they don't know how to live, and they don't know how to live because they don't know how to draw - there are proportions among things, and as there are proportions among things, there are proportions among people."

Here is all the my "art."

We are / I am a strong oak that resists all storms, on which children build tree-houses, and birds build nests, where tired men go to rest in the shade of leafy branches.

We are / I am like a tower that reaches up to conquer space and the endless universe of life.
